Catamarans are boats with twin hulls (the thing that makes them float). The two hulls are connected by rods that lie
lengthwaysbetween them. The square created by the hulls and rods has stretched inside it either a strong material or
more plastic. On the back on each hull is a rudder, this means that there is not only a twin hull but a twin rudder to match.
The mast is attatched to one of the rods between the twin hulls and the sail has an approximate area of 22 square metres.
Many catamarans also have jibs and a few have spinnakers. Catamarans are very fast and powerful and it takes some getting
used to. Catamarans also need a strong and steady hand to control them.
